TEACHING STYLE
"I loved when Mylene led activities during class. She always came up with activities that made us forget that we were learning." UGA Student

"Mylene was extremely capable of engaging the class. All of the information she taught us was not only relevant, but completely engaging and practical. She knew her target audience (juniors and seniors in college) and catered to our needs as students. The entire class was interactive and all of her teaching involved activities that were completely applicable to what we were learning. She was passionate about what she taught and passionate that we as students learned. This made her a truly amazing teacher!" UGA Student

"I think Mylene’s ability to relate and empathize with the class was impeccable. I distinctly remember one class where she discussed sleeping with her eyes open in one of her college classes…I remember thinking woah this girl gets it! She knew how to engage us as a class because she was genuine and entertaining when she spoke. She was the furthest thing from monotone (which really helped our 9:00 AM Tuesday/Thursday! Haha). Her communication skills were eloquent to the point where she was able to emphasize certain things with her tone and pitch. She also never stood in one place, she made sure to address every single face in the room. I commend her communication skills!" UGA Student
INVESTMENT IN STUDENT SUCCESS
"Mylene always had a great attitude in class. She brought energy that allowed us to get excited about our discussions. It was obvious that Mylene was extremely passionate about everything we talked about in class. She was always prepared for her presentations and knew her audience." UGA Student

"Mylene made sure to give every single student attention and made sure that everyone understood. Whenever we worked in groups she visited every single group to further relay information and allow them to ask questions. She was extremely approachable." UGA Student

"Mylene’s persistence and devotion to developing this course should not go unnoticed. She consistently was searching for ways to improve the teaching methods, student interaction, attendance, and learning material. It was inspiring seeing someone care so much about what they do!" UGA Student
TA MENTORSHIP
"Having Mylene as a mentor helped me succeed as a TA. I was extremely nervous and unsure of how to lead discussions with my fellow peers. Mylene would help me brainstorm ideas for discussion and group activities. Mylene was insightful and kind. She showed me how important it is to find something that you are passionate about. Mylene was an amazing mentor and I would not have been able to do it without her!" UGA Student

"I think how approachable she was. Mylene has mastered the balance of being extremely professional and respectable while also never making me feel inferior or like I could not ask questions. I could tell that she genuinely cared about the well being of the class, students, and me. Just as much as she wanted the students in the classroom to learn she wanted me to learn in the position that I was in." UGA Student
"My first thought was Mylene’s organizational skills. She had everything sorted and planned to a tee. Due to this, she made sure I was never out of the loop. She sent out a weekly email and throughout the week would always make sure I understood my duties as a TA. She gave me a lot of one on one attention and always shared her knowledge and wisdom with me about anything I was in charge of teaching. She always made sure I was well prepared. Often times, I observed how she consistently was searching on ways to improvise the teaching methods and other things that went along with the course. She always consoled me and took my opinions seriously. This was a monumental way that she mentored me as a TA." UGA Student

"Mylene took initiative. She would see something in class that could be improved and fixed it. Mylene was not afraid to share her opinion with the professors. I admired this about Mylene. Sharing her perspective allowed the class to continue to change to the needs of students and be successful." UGA Student
