"Life is a train that allows people to aboard your journey sometimes for a long time, sometimes for just a short while.  The impact of their stay depends on willingness, wisdom, intelligence, and passion – which you have a great deal of all.  Depending on the impact they add to your life allows for the consideration to whether your train will swing back through their stop again.  Mylene when we first met and you began your evaluation of my character, leadership style, and abilities, I was sure that I was good in every category, but you assured me that I would be better – possibly achieve standards even higher than yours.  Well throughout our relationship due to your willingness to work with me, your wisdom in advising me, your intelligence to enhance me, and your passion for helping people I have become a better leader.

Mylene because of your professional development of my lacking skills I have become more organized, more detail-oriented, overall a better manager of people, tasks, and time.  I have become Director of Community Impact and Operation with United Way in which I can truly say without you I might have gotten to a certain point of decency, but I would have never been great at my job.  With you I have managed to help this organization more than expected.  I told you with your help and you in my corner I would go far and I truly believe that. For this I hope along the way my conductor allows for this train to stop back by and you to aboard in order to transcend another part of my journey!

If there is anything I can do for you please feel free to contact me!  Thanks will never be good enough."

Justin Ferrell, Director of Community Impact and Operation
United Way of Danville

PERFORMANCE FEEDBACK

CAREER COUNSELING

A Holistic Approach

Career counseling is an intentional practice that integrates knowledge, skills, values, aspirations, and limitations. Whether I am functioning as a counselor, coach, or consultant, I focus on key areas to help individuals navigate through the current concern and create a plan to move forward. In any situation, I seek to understand the why, then develop a strategy to execute the how. This section highlights my approach to career counseling, particularly in higher education.
